If there was one thing Sharpe was a dab hand at, it was keeping up a proper front, as good as any gentle-born officer.
He’d displayed no emotion to the Frogs who’d captured him; he’d sneered at the bastards who'd pushed, shoved, and kicked him all the way to a filthy, dung-smelling cell.
But now he knelt bound on the damp, chill floor of a French encampment. Pierre Ducos delicately touched Sharpe’s cheek in a mocking parody of tenderness, and then smiled at what he saw.
Ducos, it was rumored, had a reputation.
For Christ’s sake, Pat, he thought. Hurry.

Date: 2009-09-28 11:18 am (UTC)This is so scary, after reading about Sharpe being able to keep up a front! And I can imagine it too, Ducos was kind of frightening, nothing really affected him, did it :-/
Thank you!
