Thank you for the lovely compliment. Eastern Promises, I think, is a really superb movie, full of mood and emotion and subtext. I honestly don't know if I could manage a happy story set in that milieu - I won't spoil it for you since you haven't finished it, but I believe that Nikolai is profoundly isolated and lonely, and Kirill is too full of self-loathing and fear to ever break through his barriers for me to write a believably happy story. However, if someone else can manage it, I'd be delighted to read it. In any case, I thank you for your kind words! :)
