This is a rich and detailed world. I'm assuming that 'culm banks' are what we'd call pit bings or slag heaps and truly dangerous they are...I'm of an age to remember the Aberfan Disaster. You've caught strongly your Sean's uncertain position that can be so easily tipped one way by a kind word or a look and so readily undermined by the sight of an unknown woman apparently monopolising Viggo's time. Grace is a lovely character and it will be interesting to see how her involvement complicates the men's relationship.
