I was trudging through an airport, in full con drop mode, and hen checked my email and saw this had been updated. I downloaded it to the Kindle app on my phone and saved it for the flight, and it was glorious. It just made my day!

God, the descriptions of his pain and delirium in the first part were just visceral. I suppose there weren't many options for painkillers back then, were they? The idea of it being a choice between intense suffering and being knocked out for weeks is just stunning,

His nightmare about Jim felt like foreshadowing. *wibble*

I was touched by the show of emotion by Jamie's parents and by the way he called his mother "Mummy" after referring to her by her first name earlier in the story. *sniff*

And OMG Jim saying the rosary at his bedside. Was that in English when this was first posted, or did I dream that? Their reunion was touching and beautiful. The idea that Jim spent some time thinking Jamie was dead just... gah, it kills me. I hope we get to see some of the missing letters...

And this:

“Do you think God approves?”

Two spots of pink coloured Jim’s cheeks. He looked down at their joined hands. “He must,” he said softly. “Otherwise you wouldn’t be here.”

*sobs* And it's also a reminder that they're going to have to deal with the real world now, and that it won't be easy. The discussion of that very issue was so well done, a beautiful little moment of promise and commitment, both of them knowing that serious challenges lie ahead, but willing to take the risk. And JFC, four years since that first kiss, with only two weeks of nights and letters to sustain them? It's so gloriously angsty I almost can't stand it!

And now we meet Phillip, after hearing so much about him. I have a bad feeling about this...

Enjoy your vacation! I don't think I have to tell you how desperately I'll be waiting for more. :-)
