I was actually doing okay—well, all right, relatively okay... until the last line. Martin's been through hell, but he's got a steel core. It may be a long, arduous recovery, but I have no doubts he'll come out just fine when all’s said and done. Douglas, on the other hand... God. He's a broken man who hides it all behind bravado and bluster. Of course he'd go back to the alcohol. Why did you let him go back to the alcohol?! Excuse me while I go and have a cry.
Seriously, though. This is brilliant stuff. You’ve got the boys down pat (and you make me hurt for them when I don’t want to hurt anymore, well done). And your prose… superb. It’s always a pleasure to see a new chapter up. Can’t wait for more. :D
