I absolutely loved this, from the wonderful, rich description of the restaurant at the beginning to that almost unbearably sad, final line. I had tears welling up and they weren't from peeling onions!
I think these two are meant to be together, or rather meant to fail to be together permanently, but have these bittersweet encounters.
