I love the subtle period references (betamax, the fact that the phone rings but there's not even an answering machine to pick it up (I miss that sometimes ;)), the asides, the stray thoughts, and Arthur's constant worst-case scenario analysis, but the awkwardness, for both of them, was just perfect. One of them who tends to interacts with people on a level that's physically close, but mentally shallow, and the other who tends not to interact with people at all, for them to even be trying for something more at all says a lot about the connection between them. Of course, it also makes them unbearably cute as well, but I think they figured that out. ;)
