Thank you! I have a thing for competence in action and I see John as an extremely competent man. It's one of the things I love about Martin Freeman's Watson - he's smart and capable and just as kickass as Sherlock. Even if he is wee. :D

Sherlock would never willingly display distress, I think. He's way too proud. Which makes it even more tempting to subject him to ordeals that render him vulnerable. *rubs hands*
