Oh, fun! This chapter is such a treat. It's not often you get to see John being clever, investigating (fruitfully!) on his own, kicking ass, and being doctorly all in one chapter. He's smart to try blinding Dzundza, and it does seem to have done the trick. I wonder if it would ever be possible to kneecap someone that size. Between his whole Golem height and John's more . . . bijou stature, you could get a classic "stand on tiptoe and punch him in the knee" scenario going.
Sherlock is a very lucky consulting detective to have someone like John to take care of him. He may not be showing it now, but he was pretty distressed last time we saw him.
